Youth With A Mission-Dominican Republic began in 1987, when a small team was sent from the Mercy Ship M/V GOOD SAMARITAN. We currently have 26 adult staff (plus 17 children) working in seven locations of the country. Our two largest centers are in Santo Domingo (the hub base), and Jarabacoa (the training center). Several of our staff are church planters.
The vision of YWAM-D.R. is:
1) to train latins for missions service in-country and abroad, with a focus on the 10/40 Window. 2) to help short-term teams gain a cross-cultural experience while sharing the gospel. 3) to plant churches in the 4,000+ villages that still have no local church to disciple Christians. 4) to work alongside the existing D.R. churches, facilitating their participation in the Great Commission through mission conferences, church planting conferences, "Night of Missions", "Campamento de Misiones", and pastoral mission trips. 5) to reach the youth of the D.R. through King's Kids ministries. 6) to be involved in mercy ministries, as projects present themselves.
